Electrical Blog: What is MCB and RCBO

What is an MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker)?

MCBs, also known as Miniature Circuit Breakers, are essential components of electrical systems designed to protect circuits from overcurrent's and short circuits. They act as automatic switches that interrupt the flow of electrical current when it exceeds a predetermined threshold, preventing potential hazards and damage to the electrical infrastructure.

What is an RCBO (Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Overcurrent Protection)?

RCBOs, or Residual Current Circuit Breakers with Overcurrent Protection, offer enhanced safety by combining the features of an MCB with protection against residual currents or earth leakage currents. In addition to overcurrent protection, RCBOs detect imbalances in electrical currents caused by faults and provide protection against electric shocks.
